Kansas City ASCE Diversity and Inclusion Committee supports “Conversations with Civil Engineer

On Friday November 3rd, over 12 ASCE Volunteers from the Diversity and Inclusion Committee in Kansas City arrived at the Kansas City Convention Center in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. There, they provided mentoring to over one hundred college students attending the Annual Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Convention in Bartle Hall.

The event titled “Conversations with Civil Engineers” has become an Annual event during this convention and is led by Lisa Black (ASCE Society level), Jimmy Galvez, P.E., and Moises Young, P.E. Thank you to Nicole Tauheed and Sosena Teklemariam from DuBois Consultants for providing KC ASCE with the local leadership during the event.

The disciplines represented and discussed with the students included:

  1. STRUCTURES

  2. GEOTECHNICAL

  3. WATER RESOURCES

  4. TRANSPORTATION

  5. ENVIRONMENTAL

  6. CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

  7. MUNICIPAL/LAND DEVELOPMENT
