Program On July 17, 2010 a landslide in the vicinity of the mechanically stabilized earth wall on WB I-470/I-435 led MoDOT to close the roadway. Detours were established and an emergency project let to stabilize the existing bridge and construct a new bridge over the failure zone. With more than 60,000 vehicles per day traveling on this route, it was imperative to have it re-opened quickly. MoDOT offered a $40,000 per day incentive to the contractor for each day it was opened ahead of schedule. Jeff Hardy, Project Manager and Brian Burger, Lead Construction Inspector will be presenting on the collapse, rebuild, and possible causes leading to the slide.
