ASCE Kansas City Section Awards

SECTION AWARDS  NOMINATIONS

The Kansas City Section is now taking nomination for the annual section awards.  These awards are in line with the ASCE Region 7 awards, which includes our section.  These awards were started at the region level to honor and recognize outstanding service to ASCE and the civil engineering profession.  We hope to receive nominations at the section level and submit our local winners for consideration at the region level.  The four award categories are as follows:

Lifetime Achievement:  “This award is intended to recognize the lifetime efforts of a civil engineer’s service to further advance the field of civil engineering through their contributions, innovative concepts, research and materials”.

Outstanding Younger Member:  “This award is intended to recognize the efforts of younger Civil Engineers to further advance the field of civil engineering through innovative concepts, research, and materials”.

Outstanding Faculty/Practitioner:  “The award is intended to recognize the efforts of an Outstanding ASCE Faculty/Practitioner Advisor who supports ASCE Student chapters and Civil Engineering Students”.

Service to ASCE:  “This award is intended to recognize the efforts of Civil Engineers to further advance the perception of civil engineers and civil engineering through community activities and ASCE involvement”.

Nominations are due by April 1, 2013.  Section winners will be recognized at our April Awards meeting, which is scheduled for Tuesday, April 9th.  Please consider nominating someone you feel has made a significant contribution to our profession.  Additional information and nomination forms (also attached) can be obtained by contacting the Kansas City Section Awards Committee, Matt Bleything, 816-349-6795 (mbleything@burnsmcd.com) or Chester Bender, 913-782-0541 (cbender@pyengineers.com).
