Women in ASCE Cover includes several Kansas City Section Civil Engineers

How many members of the Kansas City Section can you spot in the latest ASCE News insert? If you get Civil Engineering Magazine, you received the insert this month to coincide with Women’s History Month. There are a lot of good conversation starters in there. While we have come a long way as a profession, we still have work to do.

Congratulations and thank you to the women representing ASCE and Kansas City! Jennifer Jacka-Taylor, P.E, ENV SP Nicole Tauheed Kim Pemberton, PE Sheryl Gallagher Sam Kevern  Please tag anyone I missed!

KC ASCE and SWE Team up for 3rd Straight Year giving back with Harvesters

The Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the KC Section teamed up with the Society of Women Engineers in Kansas City to give back on Saturday November 4th at Harvesters. This is the third year the groups combine to support our local Kansas City community and this year, once again the groups had 20 volunteers.

The group sorted through frozen foods and divided them into meat, non-meat, bulk, bread/desserts, frozen meals, among others.

After almost 2 hours of volunteering, the groups gathered at Waldo Pizza to share lunch together and continue networking. During lunch, Becca Brader (SWE KC President) and Mike Winckler (KC ASCE President) spoke about upcoming events for both organizations.

We are already looking forward to the 4th Annual Harvesters Volunteering Event!
